Charges filed in standoff

ROSEDALE — Bond has been set at $100,000 for a Rosedale man charged in a 17-hour standoff with Bolivar County authorities early this week.

Chief sheriff’s investigator Charles Griffin said that 38-year-old Latidius Jones has been charged kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, burglary of a dwelling and aggravated domestic violence.

Bond was set Wednesday and Jones remains in the county jail. No trial date has been set.

Authorities say Jones got into a fight with his girlfriend and forced her at gunpoint into the bathroom of a Rosedale home on Monday night. The situation ended Tuesday night when Jones released the woman and surrendered to deputies and FBI agents.
