Up to 100 dogs taken from woman’s home

DE KALB — Kemper County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 56-year-old woman on a charge of disorderly conduct and “doing harm to herself” after dozens of dogs were found both inside her home and in pens and a mobile home outside.

Authorities say Virginia Robinson was hoarding an estimated 75 to 100 dogs on her property off Mississippi 495 about 10-12 miles from DeKalb.

Dr. Mary Fooshee, a veterinarian working with the Mississippi Animal Rescue League, said she has worked a lot of cruelty cases and it’s the worst she has seen in 20 years.
