From staff and wire reports
Add Louisville to the list of unanimous No. 1s in The Associated Press Mississippi prep polls.
Louisville joins South Panola in Class 5A, Taylorsville in Class 2A, Wayne County in Class 4A and Jackson Prep in the private schools poll as unanimous choices. The only divided opinion in the polls comes in Class 1A where four teams have at least one first-place vote.
There could be a change this week with South Panola facing a challenge from a traditional rival. The Tigers (5-0) pushed their winning streak to 80 games with a 34-7 win over Horn Lake and now face No. 3 Olive Branch (4-1) on Friday.
Oak Grove (5-0) skipped past Olive Branch in the Class 5A poll to take second this week, and Meridian and Madison Central, both 4-1, are tied for fourth.
Another top 5 clash comes Friday for the teams chasing Wayne County (5-0) in the Class 4A poll where No. 2 Noxubee County (4-0) plays No. 3 West Point (5-0). Picayune (4-1) and Itawamba (5-0) remain fourth and fifth in the poll.
The Maroon Tide also remained in the same spot in the Super 10 Poll by The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson. Picayune remained number eight in that poll, that encompasses all five classes in the state.
Picayune moved up two spots in the Top 20 statewide poll by MagnoliaPreps.com, as the Maroon Tide moved from eighth to sixth skipping Meridian and Olive Branch, a pair of Class 5A schools, from last week.
Louisville (4-1) strengthened its grip on the Class 3A top spot after former No. 2 Franklin County dropped out of the poll with a loss. Newton County (5-0) is the new No. 2, followed by Aberdeen (5-0), Velma Jackson (5-0) and Corinth (5-0).
Taylorsville (5-0) is followed by Forest (5-0) in the Class 2A poll. Enterprise Clarke (4-1) is third, Baldwyn (4-1) is fourth and Hollandale Simmons (4-0) enters the poll in fifth.
East Webster (5-0) remains No. 1 in the Class 1A poll. hile Jackson Prep (5-1) and Magnolia Heights (5-1) remain atop the private schools poll.
