PICAYUNE —
Visiting Picayune swept a pair of district soccer games from Pearl River Central Thursday night.
The Maroon Tide won 4-1 to secure a berth in the upcoming Class 5A South State playoffs, while the Lady Tide won 1-0.
The Maroon Tide got four goals from Isidro Loya in the win. Connor Smith and Tyler Poldermann each had an assist.
Lacey Polderman scored the only goal in the girls game.
Both Picayune squads hosted Long Beach in league play Friday night. A win by the Maroon Tide would give the Picayune boys the district title and a home playoff game on Tuesday. The Maroon Tide has already assured itself of a playoff spot no matter the outcome of tonight's game.
