Visiting Poplarville fell in the opening round of the Class 4A South State girls basketball playoffs Monday night.
The Lady Hornets dropped a tough 67-47 decision to perennial power Quitman. Poplarville ends the season at 5-20. The Lady Panthers are now 21-6 and advance to the South State Tournament starting Thursday in Bay St. Louis.
Poplarville got 16 points from Shaneshia Huderson and 14 points from Sheena Travis in the season ending loss.
Despite the loss, the win by the Lady Hornets last week over Greene County helped Poplarville keep their current streak of making the playoffs alive.
