HAMMOND, La. — After having a three game win streak snapped, Southeastern Louisiana University hopes to get back on the winning track today.

The Lions, led by Picayune's Brandon Fortenberry, had also won for of their past five games before falling to Southland Conference foe Stephen F. Austin 52-40 on the road Thursday night.

Southeastern will return to action on Saturday when it travels to face Northwestern State in a 3 p.m. contest also on the road.

The Lions were coming off a 70-65 victory over Nicholls State in SLC play before the loss Thursday night. Fortenberry scored a team-high 21 points points in that win over the Colonels. The Lions stand 5-10 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Fortenberry has scored in double figures in 11 of SLU's past 12 games, including 10 straight up until Thursday night. The former Maroon Tide all-state performer leads Southeastern in scoring at 13 points per game.

He was coming off a big three game stretch in conference play, that included the win over Nicholls State. In the two games prior to that, Fortenberry converted a three-point play with 39 seconds left, helping the Lions stop Lamar's late rally for a 67-63 win.

Fortenberry made a layup, was fouled and sank the free throw for what turned out to be the winning points for SLU. He had 11 points in that win.

Also, Fortenberry paced Southeastern Louisiana with a season-high 23 points and a career-best five 3-pointers as the Lions beat Central Arkansas 72-68 last week.

The 6-foot-2 senior guard hit 8 of 16 from the field, including half of his 10 3-point attempts,
