Local Boy Scout Troop visit Philmont Scout Ranch
Members of Boy Scout Troop 2 of Picayune, chartered by First United Methodist Church, recently went on a life changing trip through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Philmont covers 214 square miles of vast wilderness with trails that climb from 6,500 feet to as high as 12,441 feet.

Shallow Creek plans homecoming
This Saturday, Shallow Creek will host their 8th Annual Homecoming singing on Shallow Creek Farm and will be joined by Men of Providence, Gospel Grass Revival, and Sweet Harmony. Stonewall’s BBQ will be there along with other concessions, so come hungry. Singing starts at 6 p.m. There is no admission. Donations will be accepted at the gate.

My New Life NOW classes begin soon

Here it is almost fall again, and time for Resurrection Life Church to kick off the new Life Group Season of teachings, including the My New Life ‘No Other Way’ Recovery Group. The MNLN group is entering its tenth year of outreach ministry and mentorship to the addicted. The group name has changed over the years and was formally known in 2003 as “The Most Excellent Way” and later in 2006 as “New Life”. All though the name has changed the heart of the ministry has not. -

Updated in summer 2012, the now nine-week course provides families and individuals with practical tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success.

First Presbyterian Church of Picayune is hosting a Spiritual Life Conference August 24 – 26, 2012.
The Guest Speaker will be the Rev. Al Baker, a gospel minister with an extensive background in church planting, missions, and evangelism. He is presently the director of The Alabama Church Planting Network and an Evangelistic Revival Preacher with Presbyterian Evangelistic Fellowship. -
