NICHOLSON, Miss. —
Corinth Baptist Church of Nicholson will host a “Date Night Challenge”, Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at 7 p.m.
Date Night Challenge, an event sponsored by Focus on the Family, is for those thinking of marriage, those who are engaged, and those who have been married for many years. It is a new way of looking at “dating” that could change a couple’s relationship and strengthen their marraige. This is a national event in conjunction with National Marriage Week which is February 7-14, and Corinth Baptist Church is bringing this telecast to the local level.
Crystal Dorn, represenative for Corinth Baptist, said, “ It’s the local people we want to reach. Anyone that has been successfully married will agree, it is no rose garden and even rose gardens have thorns, and in order to have a happy marriage-it takes effort on both parts. Our hope is that people will leave this event, with a new outlook and possible rejuvenation in their current relationships.”
The event is not restricted to married couples only, it is open to the general public. Admission is one non-perishable food item, which will benefit Corinth’s food bank project for those in our local community that are in need.
The telecast will feature guest speakers, Dr. Greg and Erin Smalley, the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, President of the NHCLC, Jeff Allen, Comedian, and Michael O’Brien, Musician.
Corinth Baptist Church invites all to attend this evening of fun and laughter and discover how “doing dating differently” can change your relationship and strengthen your marriage.

A journey from fear to faith
By Gwen “Ms. Chocolate” Williams/Special to the Item
I am convinced that satan’s most powerful weapon is fear. In this land of the free and the home of the brave most are held in bondage by fear. Because of what Jesus did on the cross we are set free to live abundantly, but fear teaches us to trust our common sense rather than trust God. I wonder what my life would have been had I been taught the love of God rather than the fear of God. I lived most of my childhood in fear of what God would do if I did something wrong. Praise God, I’ve learned to walk by faith living victoriously. -
