The Picayune Item
(EDITOR’S NOTE: World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. World Day of Prayer was founded on the idea that prayer and action are inseparable in the service of God’s kingdom. Services begin at sunrise in the Pacific and follow the sun across the globe on the day of celebration.)
The United Methodist Women (UMW) of First United Methodist Church of Picayune invite the public to attend a World Day of Prayer service and luncheon on Friday, March 1.
Robin Smith Moody, a former member of First Methodist, will be the speaker. She states that she and her husband, Buddy Moody, both know that God has called them to minister in Jesus’ name in their day-to-day lives.
She says, “I am married to my very best friend and we live on a cattle farm in Poplarville, our home for 37 years. We have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren and we gratefully worship with the body of believers who meet at the Barn Church in Poplarville.”
Robin is an Independent Future Executive Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics and has enjoyed ministering to women in this way for 20 years. Robin loves to sing, spend time with her family, pray for others, and talk with the Lord as she walks through the pasture many mornings! She will share her witness in testimony and song.
The prayer service will begin at noon in the church sanctuary at the corner of Fourth Street and North Haugh, and will be followed from 12:30-1 p.m. by a soup and salad luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. Please make reservations for the $5 luncheon by calling the church office at 601-798-4321 by Wednesday, February 27. A nursery will be provided.
