BILOXI, Miss. — Most Rev. Roger Morin, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi, was doing well Monday night after undergoing quadruple bypass surgery, officials with the diocese said.

“It went well, and he’s in recovery,” said Terry Dickson, director of communications for the diocese. “We pray for a speedy recovery.”

Dickson emailed the Sun Herald on Monday about the surgery.

Dickson said Morin experienced chest pains over the weekend and was admitted to an unnamed hospital.

His surgery was planned for Monday morning but was rescheduled for 1 p.m. No other details were made available by the diocese, but Dickson did say in an e-mail that the diocese would provide updates as they become available.

Morin became bishop of the Biloxi Diocese in 2009, succeeding Thomas J. Rodi, who was elevated to archbishop to oversee the archdiocese of Mobile.
