PICAYUNE —
A well known gospel group — the Inspirations — will be concert at Picayune Memorial High School Friday, January 18, 2013 at 7 p.m.
The annual concert is sponsored by the Picayune Police Department.
Advanced tickets are $12 and $14 at the door. Admission for children 12 and under is free. Tickets can be purchased locally at Glass Doctor on Memorial Blvd.
A household name in any musical genre, the Inspirations are models of consistency in the Southern Gospel Music field. The Inspirations took Southern Gospel Music by storm and have remained at its forefront while achieving tremendous popularity and success. A four-part harmony quartet, the Inspirations has an unmistakable sound, striking the medium of traditional Southern Gospel and country.
Hailing from Bryson City, N.C. members are Mike Holcomb, Bass; Jodi Hosterman, Tenor; Luke Vaught, Rhythm, Steel and Lead Guitarist and Part-Time Pianist; Myron Cooke, Upright Bass Guitarist; Martin Cook, Manager, Pianist, and Emcee; David Ragan, Lead, and Jon Epley, Baritone.
The Inspirations have received more than two dozen Singing News Fan Awards, including Favorite Gospel Group or Favorite Male Quartet more than eight times. They have also received and been nominated for many other awards, honors and distinctions, as a group, a band and individual singers and musicians.
But their greatest accomplishment may be developing their homecoming “Singing in the Smokies,” which they have promoted since 1966 and grew to become the largest Gospel singing festival in America. “Singing in the Smokies” is held annually at Inspiration Park in Bryson City.
Originating in the heart of God, developed in His word and will, the Inspirations continue to spread the gospel through their music with enthusiasm, vigor and an unyielding dedication as they have since their formation.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Picayune Police Department’s programs and activities — a very worthy cause, and you don’t want to miss the chance to see this exciting quartet in concert.
