The Picayune Item
PICAYUNE — What would you say to others about your church or regligious organization?
Do you want to increase participation in your activities, or services?
If you had a free venue you could use to present your information not only to local citizens but to visitors, would you use it?
Well, the Pearl River County Today “Progress” edition is that venue.
The “Progress” edition, the Item’s year-in-review issue, is the perfect place to let people know what has been happening and what will happen throughout 2013.
It is an opportunity to let others know your church or religious organization’s, location, contact information, leaders, and activities. Being included in “Progress” is important for the continued success of Pearl River County’s religious community.
We should be proud of the accomplishments our religious community has made in the past year and showcase plans for the upcoming year.
Quick response is critical for inclusion in this year’s edition. Individual letters will be not be mailed out this year.
I have been fortunate enough to be the honorary religion editor for the Item for almost two decades. I know first hand that our religious community is not stagnant.
Many people work tireless hours through their prospective churches to help the needy, help the community, save lives, save souls, and make our community a better place to live and raise our children. For this work, they receive little or no credit, after all this is the Christian way. The work of the church is not done for fame or fortune, but out of a love for Christ and his ministry.
Sometimes, however, it is appropriate to “honk your own horn” and let people know the good work being accomplished.
I have always supported the “Progress” edition, and pleaded with the religious community to be involved with it. Having your church or religious organization in this once-a-year-edition, gives everyone a snapshot of religious life in the county.
Because of this we are extending the deadline for submissions until Friday, January 25, 2013. Please don’t delay. Every church and religious organization is offered a free 1/4 page spot (5”x5.25”) for free. The amount of information that can be placed in this small amount of space could be priceless to someone out there looking for a home church, or organization to volunteer for.
Take the time to submit your information. Let people know we are here.
