Niles A. Sims

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 6, 2009, at 1 p.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church for Niles A. Sims, 54, of Picayune, who passed away Monday, July 29, 2009 in the V.A. Medical Center in Biloxi, Miss.

Burial will be held Monday, July 6, in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.

The Rev. Joey Marks will officiate at the service, assisted by Pastor Michael Kelly.

A native of Picayune, Mr. Sims was a U.S. Army Veteran and employee of Dupont.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Alexander and Georgia Lou Sims; grandmother, Jimmie Lou Thomas, and one nephew, Diran Grantham.

Survivors include: two daughters, Monique and Dominique Sims, of Picayune; one brother, John Wesley (Ivena) Grantham of New York; one sister, Ann Sims of Galdsben, Ala.; one granddaughter, Amaya Bradford of Picayune; one aunt, Pat Thomas of Atlanta, Ga.; one uncle, Phillip Thomas of Picayune; and a devoted friend, Laura Patrick, of Picayune.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 6 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Picayune.

Baylous Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Beulah Honea Walker, a historical figure in the history of Picayune and Pearl River County, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, at her home in Picayune. Mrs. Walker was born in Logtown, Miss. on January 6, 1917, the daughter of Alva Benjamin Honea, Sr. and Amy Viola Parker Honea. She spent her early years there and graduated from Bay St. Louis High School. She attended MSCW. She and her late husband, J.P. Walker, had three daughters: Sandra Barker (Larry), Sharon Field (Jack) and Sheila Smith (Harvey). She also had two step-children, Barbara Hobgood and the late Kenneth Walker. She had a special niece, Christina Honea Hill (Rev. David) and nephew, Jack Honea (Diane). She had nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, J.P. Walker; and her brother Alva Benjamin Honea, Jr.
