Adolph, known as Coffee Cool Breeze, Jones, the son of the late Margaret Gavin, also the brother of the late Billy Jean and Odell Gavin was born in Pachuta, Miss., on February 11, 1936.
He attended school in the Laurel school district and graduated from Oak Parks. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. After serving three years he moved back to Picayune, Miss., to live and met and united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Annie Lois Bonner.
He relocated to Chicago, Ill. where he lived for 31 years until he retired. He then moved back to Picayune and united with the East Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Alonzo Dees and continued to serve under the leadership of Pastor Brain K. Dees until his health failed. He received his call home from the Lord at the age of 76 on Sunday, January 20, 2013 around 7:30 a.m. He was surrounded by family.
Cool Breeze was a fun loving person; full of laughter and jokes. He enjoyed fishing and shooting the breeze and most of all he enjoyed life.
His memories will be cherished by: his loving wife, Annie Lois Jones; two sons, Cedric (Gloria) Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Len (Alisha) Jones of Picayune; three brothers, Wade Jones of LA, Joe (Ethel) Gavin and Richard Gavin of NY; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Bonner and Mary (Patsy) Bonner of Picayune, and Lenora Gavin of Laurel, Miss.; seven grandchildren: Lamar, Michael, Brittney, Annaliva of Colorado Springs, and Shyann, Len, Jr. and Adrean of Picayune; two great-grandchildren, Aalyah and Jaedyn of Colorado Springs; two Aunts, Velma Carter of New Mexico and Mannie Cooley of Laurel; six nephews; one niece and a host of great nephews, great nieces, friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at East Jerusalem Baptist Church. The Rev, Brian K. Dees will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery with Military Honors.
