Donald Ray “Odey” Stallings

PICAYUNE — He will wipe away every tear from their eyes…. Revelations 21:4

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church for Donald Ray Stallings, 58, who fought the good fight, finished the race on Friday, November 30, 2012 in Oschner Medical Center, New Orleans, La., and kept his faith.

The Rev. Van Bolden will officiate and the Rev. Dr. Michael A. Kelley is pastor. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.

Bro. Donald Ray “Odey” Stallings was born August 18, 1954 in Picayune, Miss., to the late Lloyd Stallings, Sr., and Alberta Stallings. He was baptized at an early age at St. Matthew Baptist church under the leadership of the late Rev. Jessie James. He was a member of the Jr. Choir and Boy Scout Troop #602.

Donald Ray attended George Washington Carver High School where he played football with the Carver High Pirates. In 1972, he graduated from Picayune Memorial High  School and attended Jackson State University. For many years, he did construction work and worked for United Parcel Services (UPS).

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Stallings, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted mother, Alberta Stallings; two brothers, Lloyd (Tippy) Stallings, Jr., and Clinton Ray “Clint” Stallings of Picayune; three aunts, Evie Lee Simmons of New Orleans, La., Daisy Mae Sanchez of Chicago, Ill., and Lesser Stallings of Picayune; two uncles, Roosevelt Smith of New Orleans, La., and Marshall Stallings Jr., of Magnolia, Miss.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; a long-time friend, Johnnie Mae Jacobs of Jackson, Miss., and a special friend, Annie Mae Graham of Picayune.
