BAYTOWN, Texas —
Ruth Mitchell, 60, of Baytown, Texas passed away Saturday, November 18, 20 12 in Baytown. She was born October 22, 1952 in Jacinto City, Texas to Hollis and Dorothy Mitchell of Hancock County, Miss. Emma made a life of serving and protecting the public in many different ways. She was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department of McNeill, Miss., was a part of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and also worked as a paramedic for Charity Hospital in New Orleans, La. One of her most proud memberships in her life was the Eastern Star Carriere Chapter #105. She enjoyed bowling, dancing and was a devoted supporter of UT.
She was preceded in death by: brothers, Harrison E. Lee and Edward H. Mitchell; sister, Dottie Mitchell; as well as her parents, Hollis and Dorothy Mitchell.
Emma is survived by: her children, James S. Bodie, III and wife Michelle, and Amanda R Ballew and husband Robert "Chad" Ballew; sisters, Heanretta Mitchell and Gloria Jean Mitchell; grandchildren, Kristopher Leahy, Anna Marie Leahy, Bailee M. Maybin, Travis R Maybin and James Tyler Bodie.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2012 at 9 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. the same day. Burial will take place Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Picayune at Gipson Cemetery.
