POPLARVILLE —
Gloria Ann Carter Carey, 71, of Poplarville, Miss., passed on Friday, January 4, 2013, in Hattiesburg.
Mrs. Carey was born in Yazoo City, Miss. to Archie Lee and Cordie Sullivan Carter, and was their last living child. She was a plant lover, enjoyed watching football, and was a member of The Beginnings Church.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Joseph L. Carey, Sr.; her sons, Dale Peterson and Randy K. Peterson; and her siblings, Mick Carter, Lloyd Carter, Morris Dean Carter, Mary Ann Cody, Wilma Beech, Dorothy Horton, Danie Collins, and Bessie Irene Munsell.
She is survived by: her children, Kelvin Ray “Pete” Peterson, Vickie Hariel, Donna Peterson, all of Poplarville, Tammy Peterson of Necaise, and Melissa Waller of Kiln; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Steep Hollow Baptist Church, Highway 53, from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Steep Hollow Baptist Church Cemetery.
