NEW ORLEANS, La. —
Jarlath “Charlie” Bernard Gereighty, 72, passed away at the Gulfport Canon Hospice on Monday, November 26, 2012. Devoted husband of the late Iris deLanzac Gereighty. Loving father of Michael Gereighty (Jillian Porter). Grandfather of Hayley, Ethan and Jackson Gereighty. Brother of John A. (Mary); William M.; Gerlad V. and Margaret E. Gerighty Zimmer (Jay) and the late Joyce A., Justin A. and Patrick L. Gereighty. Brother-in-law of Isidore “Chip” deLanzac (Terry); and survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents: John Andrew Gereighty, Sr. and Marguerite Rost Gereighty.
Mr. Gereighty was born and raised in New Orleans, La., and attended St. Joseph Elementary School and Aloysius High School. He later moved to Chalmette, La., and relocated to Picayune, Miss. after Hurricane Katrina. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Lockheed Martin in New Orleans, La. He was a member of the Freret Carnival Organization; The Knights of Columbus, Council #10554; The New OrleansLions Club; Catholic Order of Forestors; and St. Mark Men’s Club, the “Marksmen”. Jarly loved everything Irish, especially the Irish Marching Parades.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., in Chalmette, on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 12 –3:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Interment will be private.
