POPLARVILLE —
William Robert Carlisle born on August 27, 1915, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the L.S.U. Medical Center at the age of 97. Robert, as he was fondly called, was born in Chunky, Miss., and was a longtime resident of Poplarville in the Crossroads Community. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a faithful member of Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Crossroads. Robert served families in the surrounding communities during his life working at the Movie Star Plant in Poplarville, a salesman at BF Goodrich and a longtime employee at Wal-Mart Store.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 69 years, Veda H. Carlisle of Poplarville; three daughters, Sharon Brock of New Mexico, Pam Boutwell of Carriere, Miss., and Mollie (Donald) Williams of Poplarville; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and on great-great-grandson along with nieces and nephews and the Wal-Mart Community.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert Jackson and Mary Vaughn Carlisle; two half-brothers, Vester Carlisle and Bob Carlisle; and one sister, Lula Bell Amacker.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 8, 2012 at Mitchell Chapel Church of God starting at 5 p.m. until closing and will continue Tuesday, October 9, 2012 until service time at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard J. Ryals and the Rev. Roger Flowers officiating the services. Interment will follow in the Mitchell Chapel Church Cemetery.
American Legion Post 24 will provide Military Honors at the service.
