Joseph Anthony Maggiore

PICAYUNE — Joseph Anthony Maggiore, 75, of Picayune, Miss., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 15, 2012, after a 13 year battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 12 p.m. at Christian Life Assembly of God Church.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Christian Life Assembly of God Church.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Pastor Darrell W. Worley will officiate the service.

A native of New Orleans, La., Joe was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in 1957. He was a retired New Orleans Firefighter and a retired carpenter. Joe was a devout Christian and beloved member of Christian Life Assembly of God Church, and the Gideons International. Known affectionately as Papa Joe by his grandchildren, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be truly missed.

He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Maddy. Joe enjoyed fishing, boating, and carpentry. Joe had a real passion for life and that is how he will be remembered by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. Monjure, and Evelyn Ford Monjure.

Survivors include: his wife, Beverly G. Lacoste Maggiore; his children, Kelly Smith, Joey Monjure, Terry Rodriguez and husband Wallace, and Chris Lacoste; his step-children, Warren Lacoste, and Donna Bordelon; his seven grandchildren, Katie, Colin, Emma, Jack, Kelsey, Lindsey, and Chloe; and his sisters, Rosemary (Otis) Gilmore, Myra Kattengell, Aline Holm, Jeanette Hauptmann, and Diane Encardes.
