PICAYUNE — Funeral Services for Mary Ellen Hopper Bright, 84, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Monday, February 11, 2013, will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 9-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Dr. Keith Warden will officiate the service, assisted by the Rev. Ken Walters and Dr. Tom Boone.

A native of Kemper County, Miss., she was a member of First Baptist Church of Picayune since 1962. Mary Ellen was a Registered Nurse at the MS. Health Department for 25 years. She was a member of the DAR, and the Civic Woman's Club for many years. Mary Ellen was very active in many community activities. She has more than 40 awards and recognitions for her services in the community and church.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Albert Currie Hopper and Winona Elizabeth Hamner Hopper; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: her husband of 52 years, Daniel Burrus Bright; her children, Edward Scanlan (Annice) Semmes, and Sylvia Ellen Bright Seal; her grandchildren: Jonathan (Annie) Seal, Melanie (Yazid) Rabee, and Haley (Brandon) Lee; her great-grandchildren, Emma Lee, Corrie Lee, Regan Doran, and Trey Doran; her brother, Ike David (Betty) Hopper; and sisters, Madge Geotsi, Jeanette (Marion) Winkler, and Bernice Guest.
