PICAYUNE —
Earnest Fred Hickey Sr. entered this life on February 2, 1938 and departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
Born in Epps, La., he entered the United States Navy, where he acquired the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer, during his 24 years of distinguished service to his country. He served in Vietnam, received numerous awards and medals including the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Meritorious Citation, 1st Class Medal with Palm, 6 Conduct Medals and the National Defense Service Medal. After retirement from the Navy he continued to work to support his family.
Earnest is survived by: his loving wife of 41 years, Teresa Hickey; children: C.P.O. Earnest Jr. and Nika Hickey, Michael and Susan Hickey, Jon and Joy Hickey, Ivy Lynn Hickey, Kevin Ellard, Karen Ellard Chadwell; his grand-loves: P.F.C. Joshua Ulmer, Justin Ulmer, Wesley Gray, Jaden Hickey, Keegan Hickey, Ethen Hickey, Ronnie Murray, Jon Hickey, Katie Fertita, Brycen Comies, Olivia Kate Manus, Kristin Manus, Mandy Manus, Cody Mason, Shannon Chadwell Graves and Ronni Taylor Chadwell; dear family and friends: Roger and Kathy Ellard Mason, Ronnie Chadwell, John Ellard, Debra VanDan, and Jerri and Dudley Bilbo.
His life and accomplishments will be joyously celebrated at the Hickey family home until Monday, and friends and family are welcome to stop by.
A formal memorial service will be performed in June.
