PICAYUNE — Merle Eugene “Gene” Grubb, 69, of Springfield, Ill., passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on March 31, 1943 in Springfield, the son of Merle Edward and Betty Jane Dilbeck Grubb. He married Marjorie L. Beard. Gene was a Senior Electrical Mechanical Engineering Designer for Hanson Engineers for the past fifteen years. His many projects were the Daliman Four Power Plant, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, and worked as a civil service engineer for six months after Katrina in Mississippi. He was a member of the Church of St. Jude and K of C Council in Rochester, Ill. He was past president of the Lincoln Landers Chapter of Family Motor Coach Association. He was a past police officer and past mayor of Riverton, Ill. Survived by: his wife Marjorie Workman-Grubb; two sons, Kenneth Grubb (Carla) of Springfield and Nicholas “Nick” Grubb of Bloomington, Ill.; daughters Lisa Grubb of Australia, Robin Grubb-O’Grady (Shawn)of Locke, N.Y., and Elizabeth Grubb Sullivan (Kevin) of Bloomington; two step-children, Jerry Workman of Picayune, Miss. and Heather Workman Whitmore (David) of Pawnee, Ill., eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at the Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Church of St. Jude in Rochester. The Reverend R. Dean Probst officiating with burial in the Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
