CARRIERE —
November 29, 1971 – November 28, 2012
Earl Thomas Ducote, P. E., 40, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at his family home in Carriere, Miss., surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle against cancer. He is the father of Aaron Thomas Ducote and Hannah Claire Ducote; son of Mildred Crowson Ducote and the late Milton Earl Ducote; brother of Bobby Joseph Ducote and Kim Ducote Dossett; uncle of Corey Michael Ducote, Hailey Madison Duncan and Emma Elizabeth Dossett; and brother-in-law of Clint Marshall Dossett and Melissa Scelson Ducote.
Earl was raised in New Orleans, La. and Carriere and was a resident of Diamondhead, Miss.
A good student who was enthusiastic about learning, Earl was considered by many to be a high achiever. He graduated from Pearl River Central High School in 1989. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2001. He also pursued graduate school, earning his Masters of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2003 and a Masters of Civil Engineering from Auburn University in 2006.
Earl projected a subtle but positive influence in his workplace. He was comfortable working behind the scenes to help everyone get their job done, and he worked hard at all times to help others to reach their highest potential. Earl was effective at working with others to gain acceptance for his ideas. Earl could be a perfectionist at times, but wasn’t one to seek out on personal recognitions. He possessed excellent insight and a strong ability to meet schedules. He was an innovator who worked well independently, and he enjoyed the task of meeting a constant array of challenges. His primary occupation was as a Civil & Environmental Engineer. He was employed for CDM Smith and held a Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers. He was an active member of the American Water Works Association. Earl Thomas Ducote shared himself freely; and family and friends will remember Earl for the strength of his convictions.
The Ducote family would like to thank Dr. Gerald P. Miletello and the staff at Pennington Cancer Center, Baton Rouge, La., St. Theresa Specialty Hospital, Kenner, La., and St. Joseph Hospice for their love and support shown to our family during this most difficult time.
Relatives, friends of the family, and employees of CDM Smith are invited to attend a Memorial Service in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St.; on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to National Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, 919 Josephine St., New Orleans, LA.
