A native of Pearl River County, Miss., she was a Homemaker and a member of Lee's Chapel #1 Missionary Baptist Church. Yvonne was a devout Christian who loved her children and also loved her Pastor, her Church and her Church family. She lived her faith daily and was a great role model for her children, grandchildren, and everyone whom she came in contact with daily. She was known for never saying an unkind word. She believed if you couldn't say something nice, you shouldn't say anything at all. One of her greatest concerns in life was seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. She loved going on vacations and traveling with her sisters and her family. She was a wonderful cook and she loved gardening.
She was preceded in death by: parents, S. Herbert Lee and Lela Seal Lee; her husband of 53 years, Gordon Guy Penton; her grandson, Christopher Donovan Penton; her brother, Rayford Lee; and her two sisters, Joyce Faye Spiers and Virginia Penton.
Survivors include: her son, Herbert Ray Penton and wife Jodie of Carriere; three daughters, Wanda Romaine and husband Don of Houston, Texas, Mary Louise Perry of Houston, and Cindy Newell and husband Harold of Carriere; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren; her six sisters, Valerie Lewis of Carriere, Mary Lou Hawthorne of Picayune, Miss., Lena Pearl Spiers of Carriere, Mexie Spiers and husband Arlis of Richton, Miss., Peggy Wigley of Petal, Miss., and Ida Wigley and husband Marion "Mo" of Richton; her brother, Clifford Lee and wife Candy of Carriere; her two sisters-in-law, Betty Graeter Lee and Ocie Mae Penton Spiers both of Carriere; and a host of nieces and nephews.
