PICAYUNE —
A faulty vehicle caused a Picayune woman to have to return home prematurely and interrupt an apparent burglary of her home.
The burglary occurred early Thursday morning after she left for work, according to a press release from the Picayune Police Department. The release states the woman recalled seeing a silver Crown Victoria parked along the side of Richard Street near her home on Bolar Street as she left for work at about 5:30 a.m.
On her way to her Slidell, La., job she began to have trouble with her vehicle and decided to turn around and head home and try to find an alternate way to work, the release states.
When she reached home, she noticed the Crown Victoria was still there, but was unoccupied, the release states. She could hear rustling coming from her bedroom as she entered her home, according to the release. When she investigated, she saw the bedroom window had been broken but no one was inside, so she checked outside, according to the release. She noticed the silver Crown Victoria had left, the release states.
Officers were notified of the incident and the vehicle’s description was relayed to other officers on duty, according to the release. A vehicle fitting the description of the one at the burglary was seen traveling on Bales Avenue just before 7 a.m. and was stopped, the release states.
Brandon Hall, 25, of 603 Bolar St., was driving the car and a search of the vehicle uncovered evidence linking him to the break-in, along with several items from other burglaries that have yet to be reported, according to the release. The release states Hall admitted to breaking into the woman’s home that morning and was charged with residential burglary.

Who’s ready for The Big One on New Madrid fault?
It’s a bleak scenario. A massive earthquake along the New Madrid fault kills or injures 60,000 people in Tennessee. A quarter of a million people are homeless. The Memphis airport — the country’s biggest air terminal for packages — goes off-line. Major oil and gas pipelines across Tennessee rupture, causing shortages in the Northeast. In Missouri, another 15,000 people are hurt or dead. Cities and towns throughout the central United States lose power and water for months. Losses stack up to hundreds of billions of dollars.
