PICAYUNE —
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department caught a man making methamphetamine in a trailer on the property of Paw Paw’s Camper City.
Investigators received a tip that someone was making the drug at a business, located at 808 Memorial Boulevard, said Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator. According to the business website that address belongs to Paw Paw’s Campers and Cars.
The tip alleged that 50-year-old Jay M. Herring was living and manufacturing methamphetamine at a trailer located at the business. Saucier said narcotic investigators went to that location and after knocking on the trailer door they saw Herring look out the window, but refused to open the door. A smell of what appeared to be methamphetamine being manufactured prompted the officers to enter the trailer and take Herring into custody, Saucier said. Herring was also found to have warrants for some misdemeanor traffic violations with the Sheriff’s Department.
As the officers were taking Herring into custody another suspect pulled up to the location, 48-year-old Dawn S. Van-Alstyne. Saucier said investigation into Van-Alstyne’s presence at the scene discovered she also lived at the trailer.
A warrant was secured to search the trailer, and in the search investigators found evidence of an active cook, precursor chemicals and some marijuana, Saucier said. Herring was charged with manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of precursor chemicals, possession of marijuana, generation of hazardous waste and the traffic warrants.
Van-Alstyne was charged with possession of precursor chemicals and possession of bonded whiskey, Saucier said. While the scene was being processed investigators observed another person pull up to the trailer, 25-year-old Denisa M. Jeuderine of 114 Marilyn Dr., Slidell, La. Saucier said a search of Jeuderine and her belongings found methamphetamine in her vehicle. Additional investigation determined Jeuderine had come to the trailer with the intent of purchasing methamphetamine, Saucier said. Jeuderine was charged with possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy to possess a controlled substance.
In a separate case a traffic stop led to the arrest of 32-year-old Roger Alsobrooks Jr., of 12604 Preacher Powell Rd. Saucier said Alsobrooks was pulled over for an inadequate or broken tag light, but during the stop the officer noticed Alsobrooks behaving in nervous manner. His actions raised the officer’s suspicion and prompted him to ask Alsobrooks to search his vehicle, which Alsobrooks consented. During the search the officer found Oxycodone and Didrex, both of which are controlled substances, Saucier said.
Alsobrooks was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and cited for the tag light violation.
