PICAYUNE — A man has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute following a surveillance operation.

The arrest took place on Friday, Aug. 20, after surveillance was conducted in an area near Pea Ridge Road. At that time, a deputy with the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department, Van Giadrosich, observed a car and its driver engage in what the deputy suspected was a drug transaction.

Chief Investigator Capt. Donnie Saucier said Giadrosich asked a fellow deputy, Justin Faia, to conduct an investigative stop on the vehicle.

During the stop, Deputy Faia identified the driver as Robert Ray Alisson, 52, of 76 Pea Ridge Rd. As Faia conducted the stop, he could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Following a search conducted on the vehicle, Faia found about a quarter of a pound of the drug in Alisson’s car packaged up for resale.

Alisson was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
