PICAYUNE —
A woman reported as missing by her parents out of Rankin County was last seen in Picayune.
The woman’s name is Brailynn Amber Corr. She is about 22-years-old, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen driving a 1999 GMC Jimmy with a Rankin County, Miss., license tag RGM837.
Capt. Chad Dorn with the Picayune Police Department said according to footage taken from the local Wal-Mart, a woman fitting that description was seen making a purchase on Sept. 17. From Corr’s demeanor, she did not seem as though she was under duress, Dorn said, and there appeared to be no one with her at the store or in her vehicle when she drove off.
Several calls to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department for clarification as to whether Corr is listed as missing or not and for comments on the situation were not returned by Friday afternoon. However, Brailynn’s father, Dave Corr, said she is officially listed as a missing person with the National Crime Information Center. He and his wife have been out searching for her and have been in the Picayune area for the past four to five days.
“We’re not stopping the search to find her,” Dave Corr said.
Dave Corr said they have so far searched Picayune and New Orleans, even though she is not the type of person to visit the large city, Dave Corr said. However, everything she has done over these past weeks has been out of character for her, he said.
She was last seen by her father the night of Sept. 15, when she packed a blue duffle bag that had her name on it full of clothes and told him she would be visiting friends in Hattiesburg for about five days. A check of her financial records shows she checked into a Super 8 in the Hattiesburg area, but checked out the day of Sept. 17, the same day she was seen shopping at the Picayune Wal-Mart. Brailynn Corr never did visit the friends she said she intended to see, her father said. Dave Corr said he called those friends to check on her, but they had not seen her.
Dave Corr said the last transaction on her card was to get gas at the gas station next to the Picayune Wal-Mart.
A graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in molecular and microbiology, Brailynn Corr was working at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson prior to her disappearance and had received two promotions in the short time she worked there, Dave Corr said.
Dave Corr asks that anyone who sees his daughter, or the vehicle she was driving, to call local law enforcement, or him personally at 601-850-9074.
