A naked man was caught by a game camera in a local cemetery as part of grave site vandalism investigation.
Recently, the cemetery, which officers would not name, has dealt with several incidents of items being taken from gave sites, so to catch the suspect in the act, the cemetery staff set up a camera of the type used by many hunters to photograph deer on trails and at food plots a night, said Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker.
The camera was set up on Oct. 22, and at about 1 a.m. the camera caught someone committing a crime, but it wasn’t what they expected.
Instead of catching someone vandalizing a grave site, the camera caught a naked, unknown white male setting up his own camera on a tripod in the cemetery, Tucker said. It’s currently unclear why the man was naked in the cemetery with a camera on a tripod, Tucker said.
Cemetery personnel contacted the Sheriff’s Department, which is currently attempting to identify the man.
Tucker said it is not clear if the man is the one responsible for the grave site vandalism, but investigators would like to speak with him. Even if the man is not responsible for the vandalism, he will face indecent exposure charges, Tucker said.
