Picayune —
A fourth armed robbery in less than a week took place Tuesday, this time at the north branch of First National Bank in Picayune.
The armed robbery was reported to the Picayune Police Department Tuesday. Deputy Chief David Ervin said initial witness accounts state the suspect, described as a light skinned Hispanic or black male, entered the bank at about noon armed with a handgun and demanded money.
Once the suspect got the money he left the building, getting into a vehicle with another occupant. Inspection of the video surveillance footage shows the vehicle used in the robbery was a teal green Subaru Outback, Pearl River County Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier said.
This is the fourth armed robbery in Pearl River County is less than a week. On Friday a suspect robbed a Carriere convenience store, Saucier said. Then on Sunday armed robberies took place at convenience stores in McNeill and Ceasar about an hour apart from each other.
Saucier said both departments have been working closely in the investigation into all of the armed robberies and based off the evidence they are fairly sure the same suspect was involved in all four incidents.
In addition to assisting Picayune Police Department in their investigation the Sheriff’s Department called in about 15 additional deputies putting them out on patrol in attempts to locate the vehicle, Saucier said.
