Search warrants yield drugs, guns, money; six suspects in custody

PICAYUNE — An operation by the Picayune Police Department Narcotics Division led to several narcotics and weapons related arrests stemming from two search warrants on opposite sides of the city. All of the arrests took place Oct. 27.

The first warrant was served around noon at 901 Charlotte Dr. According to a release from the department Investigators have purchased narcotics and observed narcotics related activity during previous surveillance operations.

In the search investigators seized about $1,500, and recovered evidence of narcotics and vice activity. Information gathered during the search led detectives to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle en route to the home. Dawn Michelle Gros, 44, of 25033 Karly Dr.; Charles Armbruster, 27, of 104 Stegall Rd., and Robert Johnson, 50, of 113 Maryland Lane, Picayune, were all arrested after officers found several ounces of marijuana packaged for sale inside the vehicle.

Gros and Armbruster were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,500 ft. of a church or school and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance. Gros was also charged with driving while license suspended. Johnson was charged with possession of marijuana. Gros and Armbruster are awaiting a bond hearing through the Picayune Municipal Court.

Later that day, officers arrested Raymond Keith Miller, 37, of 774 Caesar Rd., and Tammy Myers, 36, of 167 W. Union Rd., Carriere, after a traffic stop was conducted on their vehicle as they left the Comfort Inn. Investigators received information about drug activity and a possible meth lab at Miller’s room at the Comfort Inn. Officers found drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and pills inside the vehicle.

Myers was charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance, and no insurance. Miller was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Officers also stopped Alicia Goynes, 39, of 8036 U.S. Highway 11 North after she left the same room. In her vehicle they found marijuana. Goynes was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

Investigators then obtained a search warrant for room 119 at the Comfort Inn. Inside the room they found a large amount of marijuana, methamphetamine, precursor chemicals and equipment for making methamphetamine, counterfeit currency, and a pistol, which was listed as stolen with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office, the release states.

Miller additionally was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,500 ft. of a church or school, possession of precursor chemicals, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of counterfeit currency, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance. Miller is in the Picayune City Jail awaiting a bond hearing in Municipal Court.

The Picayune Police Department said it appreciates the citizens who called in information about these and other incidents.

“We can’t be everywhere at once,” Detective Odom said. “The public is our eyes and ears out here. They know their neighborhood better than anyone, so their information is invaluable.”
