A one vehicle accident on Mississippi Highway 603 involved the death of a Carriere man.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper First Class Roy Jacobsen said the accident occurred on Miss. Hwy. 603 just before noon Friday.
Witness statements and investigation into the accident show 53-year-old Francisco Marquez, of Carriere, was north bound on the highway when the vehicle left the lane of travel, crossed the median and the south bound lane before striking a tree, Jacobsen said. Marquez was ejected from the vehicle during the accident. He was pronounced on scene, Jacobsen said.
One witness statement suggests Marquez may have suffered a medical condition during to the accident, causing him to leave the road, Jacobsen said. However, it will be up to the Hancock County Coroner’s office to determine a cause of death, Jacobsen said.
Jacobsen said Marquez was driving a truck with C & H Pest Control on it at the time of the accident.
