Pearl River County Emergency Operations Director Danny Manley reports about 12 homes were damaged by a tornado Christmas day McNeill and Carriere areas.
The storm is so far said to have caused major damage to those homes, and caused injuries to about 7 people.
Emergency responders were still conducting rescues that afternoon, so Manley said it would be several hours before the full extent of damage and injuries would be known.
Manley said power outages have also occured. So far none of the injuries reported are life threatening.
