Several arrested

PICAYUNE — Two cases worked by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department brought about the arrest of four suspects.

The first case occurred on April 30, where information gathered by department investigators garnered a search warrant. Upon serving the warrant the investigators found Mike Thompson, 32, of 35 Billy Glenn Lane and Sheila Sherner, 43, also of 35 Billy Glenn Lane, in the home, said Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier.

A search of the residence found pseudoephedrine pills, lye and ammonium nitrate, which are some items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, Saucier said. Also found in the home were two Methadone pills, four Lortabs, one Adderall, and a small amount of marijuana.

Both Thompson and Sherner were charged with possession of precursor chemicals and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The second case appeared to have two parts. On May 6, investigators were conducting surveillance on a home in Carriere concerning reports of possible drug dealing in the area. During observation of the home the investigators witnessed a Chevy Monte Carlo pull up to the home and the driver and a resident engage in what appeared to be a hand to hand transaction, Saucier said.

When the vehicle left the residence the investigators followed it and later conducted an investigative stop. Timothy Holt, 41, of 905 S. Chivers St., Poplarville was found behind the wheel. A search of the vehicle found 1.2 grams of methamphetamine and a marijuana cigarette. Holt was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

A search of the residence where the alleged transaction took place, located at 8036 U.S. 11, found 33 year-old Alicia Goynes. In the home was methamphetamine paraphernalia and some scales. Investigators also found some seeds that are suspected to be from a marijuana plant. Saucier said Goynes was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Since there was no physical evidence of a drug transaction taking place no sale charges were pressed, Saucier said.
