MOBILE, Ala. — The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking public comments by Jan. 21 on a proposed natural gas pipeline from Grand Bay to Pascagoula, Miss., including a proposed alternate route along U.S. 90.
The agency plans to prepare an environmental assessment of the plans, which also call for a pipeline expansion from Grand Bay to Citronelle, north of Mobile.
The commission indicated that the pipeline’s proposed routing had raised concerns at public meetings this fall. It has asked parties, including managers of the Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge to discuss a route following U.S. 90 through the preserve, which sits on the Mississippi side of the state line.
The agency says that other route was suggested during open houses earlier this fall. Builders propose a route farther north.
