PICAYUNE —
A one-vehicle fatal accident on Mississippi Highway 43 South, Wednesday night was determined to have been caused by a medical condition from which the driver suffered.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper 1st Class Roy Jacobsen said the cause of the accident is still under investigation, but a medical examination has determined the driver, 42-year-old Cristen Lee of Picayune, suffered from a medical condition prior to his vehicle leaving road.
The accident occurred Wednesday at about 6:18 p.m. when the Volkswagen Jetta that Lee was driving left the road on the right side. Jacobsen said the vehicle suffered minor damage but Lee was found to have passed away, Jacobsen said.
Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage on Thursday confirmed that Lee had died from sudden cardiac arrest.
No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident, Jacobsen said.
