POPLARVILLE —
Pearl River County authorities say they have no leads on the whereabouts of a man, Louis Steven Kathmann, 33, who has seemingly vanished into thin air.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Sheriff Shane Tucker says the sheriff’s department has used dogs to try and pick up his trail on Holden Road, used search parties where he was last seen on July 17 at 1:46 a.m., and have looked into his cell phone records, all to no avail.
Kathmann was last seen in the 200 block of Holden Road.
“Right now we have no leads and are still investigating the matter,” Tucker said on Saturday.
His sister, Rechelle Kathmann, of Carriere, says Kathmann’s failure to contact family members is “highly unusual.”
“He always kept in touch, but his car hasn’t moved since he disappeared, his bank account hasn’t been touched and his cell phone use abruptly ended,” she said.
“We are desperate to make contact with him. He just disappeared and no one knows where he is,” she said.
“He’s been missing for 38 days, as of today (Saturday),” said Kathmann.
She said her brother had been associating with a person he had met in jail, that he had been released from the Pearl River County jail the first week in July, and that he had been living with kin and acquaintances in the Poplarville area.
Kathmann is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo on the left side of his chest that says “Alice.”
Tucker said anyone having information concerning Kathmann’s whereabouts, or what happened, should call the sheriff’s dept. at 601-749-7700.
