PICAYUNE — Firefighters with Picayune Fire Department conduct regular maintenance on the city’s many fire hydrants, such as giving them a fresh coat of paint. A new coat of paint is added yearly and helps the emergency responders find them easily in an emergency.

Firearm reportedly being fired in residential area leads to arrest
At 6:22 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call regarding an unknown suspect firing a weapon from the porch of a residence on Richards Street, Assistant to the Chief of Police Jeremy Magri said.
The Highland Commons Parkway leads to the woods. The project’s purpose is to expedite traffic to Highland Hospital from the interstate, but the road comes to a dead end in front of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
