Picayune man arrested for meth after welfare call

By Jeremy Pittari

PICAYUNE — A Picayune man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department was called out to his location on a welfare concern.

The welfare concern dealt with children being around narcotics, said Lt. Chris Russell. The suspect was identified as Bernie Greg Necaise, 51, of Picayune.

Russell said when deputies got to Necaise’s room at the Diamondhead Resort Inn on Aug. 8, an unidentified female answered the door. She gave the deputies consent to search the room. Inside they found methamphetamine and some unidentified prescription medication.

Necaise was charged with possession of a controlled substance and the children were taken into Department of Human Services care, Russell said. The children have since been released to their biological father. No charges were pressed against the mother of the children since Necaise claimed the methamphetamine was his.

Once the unidentified prescription medication is identified, Necaise could face additional charges or the department might press charges against the woman, Russell said.
