Picayune police help U.S. Marshal’s office nab murder suspect

PICAYUNE — In the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac, local and federal law enforcement officers on Friday served a capital murder warrant on a Picayune man.

The suspect, 21-year-old Armand Davis of 2402 Jackson Landing Rd., was taken into custody just before 9 a.m. Friday for a capital murder charge he faces in Texas, according to a release from the Picayune Police Department.

Picayune police officers assisted the U.S. Marshal’s office in serving the arrest warrant. Officers could hear a television playing inside the home when they arrived to serve the warrant, but no one would answer when they knocked on the door, the release states.

Officers then began surveillance of the home and saw a juvenile leave. Officers spoke with the unidentified juvenile and learned Davis and another man were inside. Again officers knocked on the door in an attempt to get someone to come open it, again with no success. At that point the officers told the occupants of the home that if they continued to refuse to answer the door, a search warrant would be secured and everyone inside would be arrested, the release states.

Several minutes passed with no response so officers began the process of securing a search warrant, but the homeowner came home before the search warrant arrived. Consent to enter the home was granted by the unidentified homeowner and Davis and another man, 20-year-old Brandon Kennard of 2402 Jackson Landing Rd., were taken into custody. Davis was charged on the capital murder warrant and is awaiting extradition to Texas.

Kennard was charged with resisting arrest of another, the release states.
