Circle Drive has been partially closed and detour routes set up so that the Pearl River Utility Authority can make emergency repairs to the failing 12 inch sewer line.

“We will do our best to accommodate local traffic,” said Jeff McClain, Executive Director of Pearl River Utility Authority.

An emergency by-pass pump system has been set up so that residents can continue to use their facilities without any disruption. Repairs are expected to take 30 to 45 days to complete, McClain said.

The utility authority was alerted to the sewer line collapse about a month and a half ago. Crews then used video and camera equipment to clean and assess the condition of the pipe, McClain said.

The emergency repairs will consist of installing 750 feet of new 14-inch pipe and three new sewer manholes. Also, 1,330 feet of pipe will be relined to improve the condition of the pipe. The relining will not require excavation, McClain said.

“We regret any inconvenience to the local residents as we move forward with this required infrastructure improvement,” McClain said.

Residents with any questions regarding the project should call the Pearl River Utility Authority at 601-799-5259.
