PICAYUNE — Crosby Arboretum hosts Alan Branhagen, who will be taking visitors on a field walk on Saturday.
The event will give anyone who has questions about plant life, wildlife, or nature a chance to gather information, said Senior Curator Patricia Drackett.
“He’s a walking encyclopedia of any plant,” Drackett said.
Branhagen is currently working as the Director of Horticulture at Powell Gardens in Kansas City and also designed the nation’s largest edible landscape located at the garden.
Participating in the event will give visitors to the arboretum a chance to ask questions about the outdoors and get intelligent answers about birds, butterflies, plants and any other kind of wildlife.
“It’s a great opportunity to walk with a true naturalist,” Drackett said.
The event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be no charge to attend the event for arboretum members. Non-members will be charged $5.
Branhagen has a public blog that can be found at http://powellgardens.blogspot.com/.
