Poplarville Police looking for stolen skid steer

POPLARVILLE — Poplarville Police officers are looking for information concerning a stolen skid steer from a Poplarville business. Information that could lead to the recovery of the equipment and the prosecution of those responsible could be earn the provider a $10,000 reward.

Capt. Rossie Creel said the owner of Southern Straw Company at 591 Mississippi Highway 26 East reported the equipment missing on June 24, and believes the equipment was stolen sometime between closing hours on June 22 and the morning of June 24.

Grainy surveillance footage from surrounding businesses spotted an 18 wheeler pulling into the yard at the business. Investigators also found a set of bolt cutters used to cut the lock from the gate, Creel said. Fingerprints were not found on the bolt cutters.

The owner reported to police officers that the Cat Skid Steer is a model 257B and has a serial number of SLK02343. The equipment also had pallet forks installed when it was stolen, Creel said.

A reward of $10,000 is being offered by the owner of the equipment for information that will lead to the recovery of the property and the successful prosecution of those involved in the equipment’s theft, Creel said.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Poplarville Police Department at 601-795-4447.
