Interstate traffic stop finds rolling pharmacy

PICAYUNE — A Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department deputy patrolling Interstate 59 found what turned out to be a vehicle carrying a large amount of various controlled substances.

Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier said on Jan. 29, Detective Joe Garcia witnessed a vehicle traveling on the interstate in a careless manner, prompting him to make a traffic stop on the vehicle.

During the stop, the passenger, 64-year-old Ronald Hornbuckle of 2212 Ohara Rd., Huntsville, Ala., admitted he had marijuana cigarette on him when asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, Saucier said.

That admission gave Garcia probable cause to search the vehicle, Saucier said. The search uncovered a plethora of narcotics, Saucier said. The recovered contraband included 12 hand rolled cigarettes containing what was believed to be marijuana, five large bags of marijuana, and varying amounts of Endocet, Hydrocodone, Xanax, Oxycontin, codeine, morphine, Diazepam, two ecstasy pills, and two shotguns and two pistols, Saucier said. In Hornbuckle’s wallet, there were 18 doses of LSD, Saucier said.

Both Hornbuckle and the driver, identified as 28-year-old Lisa Beadle of 622 Thomas Ave., Lewisburg Tenn., were charged with 11 counts each of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute along with possession of firearms while in possession of narcotics, the chief investigator said. Saucier said $2,045 was found in the search as well, which, along with the 2007 Lincoln MKZ the pair was riding in, was confiscated due to the suspicion the money and the vehicle were acquired through the sale of narcotics.
