POPLARVILLE —
Pearl River County Emergency Management officials said residents who have storm damage from the Christmas Day tornado can begin placing debris alongside of public roads.
“Plans are underway for debris removal within the areas of Pearl River County impacted by the Christmas Day Tornado,” said Tony Bounds, the Pearl River County Emergency Management public information officer.
“Residents may begin placing their storm debris near the roadway,” he said.
County emergency management officials said debris piles should be accessible to crews from public roadways, where possible, but piles should not interfere with the flow of traffic or be placed in the ditch.
Debris piles should not be placed near meters, poles or fire hydrants, said Bounds, and no hazardous materials should be placed in storm debris piles.
County Emergency Management Director Danny Manley said further updates on the debris removal process will be forthcoming as information becomes available.
