PICAYUNE — The suspect in an armed robbery at a local Subway restaurant is being sought by the Picayune Police Department.

Assistant to the Chief of Police Jeremy Magri said the call reporting the crime came into the department on Dec. 26, at about 6:45 p.m.

Officers arrived and spoke to the employee who said the suspect entered the store wearing a dark colored hoodie with a baseball cap. When he approached the counter he pointed what appeared to be a handgun from the pocket of his hoodie at her and demanded all the money in the register, Magri said.

After the employee complied, he told her to lay on the floor as he fled on foot. Magri said other customers entered the restaurant as the suspect fled and those witnesses recalled the suspect as wearing a tan colored hoodie with Aeropostle 1987 on the back and wearing a baseball cap, was 5 feet 7 inches tall, had scruffy looking facial hair and was a white male with a thin build.

The suspect was last seen walking towards the Chevron gas station near the restaurant, Magri said.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 601-798-CLUE (2583) or the Criminal Investigations division at 601-798-7411.
