MILLARD —
Pearl River County authorities have arrested the sister of a federal prisoner held here in connection with allegedly trying to slip to him drugs sealed under a postal stamp on a letter addressed to him, according to Pearl River County Sheriff’s Dept. Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier.
As she tried to visit her brother, Harold Ladner, 24, at the huge county prison on Saturday, sheriff’s deputies arrested Katherine Plescia, 27, last known address 829 Latimer Rd., Gulfport, on a warrant charging her with conspiracy to introduce a controlled substance into a prison facility.
In addition, authorities searched her, found a strip of Suboxone on her person and additionally charged her with possession of a controlled substance, said Saucier.
Saucier said Plescia remains in Pearl River County jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing on the charges.
Authorities allege she is the person who mailed Ladner the letter with drugs under the stamp.
Saucier said deputies examining the letter addressed to Ladner found Suboxone under the stamp, removed the Suboxone, replaced the stamp and delivered the letter to Ladner.
Ladner was charged with conspiracy to introduce a controlled substance into a prison facility.
Suboxone is a controlled narcotic used to treat opiate addictions.
After Ladner was charged, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Plescia under the same charge.
Authorities nabbed her on Saturday under that original charge as she tried to visit Ladner in the prison.
