PICAYUNE — Koepp’s bio is as follows: Gregory R. Koepp, II is from McNeill, MS and is married to Aimee Collette Lee. He is the father of Olivia Grace, Parker James and Betsy Faith and resides in Gales Ferry, Conn. where he serves in the submarine force at Naval Base New London.

He received his commission as a naval officer in September 2000 and is now a Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). His grandfather, Cyril Oliver Koepp, served as a B17 bombardier during WWII where he flew multiple missions over enemy territory. His uncle, Clarence Penton, is a former POW of the Korean War.                       He graduated PRC in 1994, PRCC in 1998, LSU in 2000 with BS is Physics, Old Dominion University in 2006 with MS in Engineering Management.

He recently completed a 3 year department head tour in August as Navigator on USS VIRGINIA, the first of the newest class of nuclear powered fast attack submarines. During his tour on VIRGINIA he completed the Operational Evaluation and Developmental testing of the class as well as the first six month multi-theater deployment to the European and African Combatant Commanders Area of Responsibility. He was twice awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his service on USS VIRGINIA.

His next assignment is a two year shore tour with Commander Submarine Squadron Four as Operations Officer where he will be responsible for the operations, planning and deployment certifications of 6 submarines stationed in Groton, Conn.
