I would like to belatedly congratulate Gene Lyons for his chastisement of the MSNBC TV hosts and others for their bad behavior in his editorial in the July 5th Item. Mr. Lyons has actually been doing a pretty good job lately in calling to account the wild-eyed extremists in his party.
He just cannot seem to restrain himself from taking a couple of uncalled-for swipes at conservatives. One example is his reference to the dopes who showed up at Tea Party rallies carrying guns, and inferring that it stopped happening because most people knew that it wasn’t right.
Next, Gene’s comparison of the Left’s partisanship to that of Sean Hannity is, frankly, puzzling. First, there is nothing wrong with partisanship. Secondly, Sean Hannity is probably the nicest radio and TV host extant.
